Hoosier Daddy...

Hi kids!  Here we are!  Day 1 of our annual road trip!  This year's travels will find us in Texas with stops in New Orleans, Memphis, and Nashville on the way home! On the way to Texas we'll stop in Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Tulsa.  We got a late start this morning but it was OK. None of our travel days on this road trip will be our usual 500 milers (except for the last leg home from Nashville), so we have more breathing room than usual!  Another reason why we took 3 weeks off for this!  Anyway, we planned on a 9 am pullout. It turned out to be an 11 am pullout!  Lol!  It was cold and drizzly, and I was hoping if we waited a little the rain would stop. I was also having a REALLY hard time leaving the boys!  I was crying as we pulled away. 😢  No joke. I hope they're good for Aunt Candace!
So we both donned our chaps, full-face helmets, sweatshirts under the jackets, gloves, and off we went!  I bought some thermal knit gloves with grippy fingers & palms last year at the Boot Box so I broke those out for the first time. (I HATE wearing gloves when I ride!) And I borrowed some leather crash guard covers from our pal Greg at South East. Good call!  I really appreciate his offer to lend them to me!!!
So we left during a cold, grey drizzly morning. Luckily the drizzle stopped but I never did warm up. Bah. My hands were numb. I hate that. I would shake my left hand down underneath me by the engine, then my right...this went on & on...  Luckily the traffic was light and the jackassery was kept to a minimum!  We stopped west of Dayton in Englewood for lunch at a Skyline Chili.

My first time trying Skyline!  Shocking, I know! It was good but I like Blue Ash Chili near Cincinnatti better!
So we arrived at our stop for the night on the Far East side of Indianapolis. An easy 300 mile day. There's not much to do around here, though. I wish we were staying downtown like we originally had planned. There's a Triple-D spot called the Steer-In that we were debating about going to tonight, but I honestly don't feel like putting on makeup right now!  So we'll hit it tomorrow after meeting up with the Central Indiana Browns Backers to watch my Brownies beat those Saints!
So here we sit, poolside at the hotel, sipping adult beverages, wearing our sweatshirts, soaking up the sun's rays!

There's a kid riding his training wheel equipped bicycle around the parking lot with his Dad. Dad's on his own bike. Dad just bought the bike HE'S on at the local Wall-Mart. Says he hasn't been on a bike in 40 years!  Then he rings the bell and says "if you hear this, send help because I'm having a heart attack!"
I've got my iPad cranking the Metallica, the noisy freeway and main road is right by us. It's REALLY noisy. I can barely hear my tunes. Suddenly I'm hearing a faint sound of Polka! Where is the polka coming from? There's a black kid walking through the parking lot holding something in his hand...is it an iPod?  Could HE be listening to Polkas?  How cool!  Where is this polka music coming from?!?!  Just then I realize it's my phone!  I have an Eddie Kenik tune for my Dad's ringtone!  hahahahhahaaaaa!!!
So I talked to Dad for a bit....he likes to follow our travels on Google Earth!  He was calling to inform me of our dining choices near our hotel!  And he also commented that the pool is an odd shape.....which is EXACTLY what I said to Tom 2 minutes prior!  Lol!  I'm my Father's daughter!
Oddly shaped pool.....

So we're off to a good start!  A little boring, but that's how all our trips start!
Ok...that's it for today!  Catch y'all tomorrow!  I hope to be gloating after a Browns win!!!
